MACKENZIE

“Nickname”

Rescued at auction, thin and scared, this horse looked so worn out that it was nearly impossible to to believe that he was just 4 years old... and yet, it’s true. So very thin, wearing just two random remaining shoes, showing signs of overwork, head hung low, he looked more like a horse that was ready to die. But his luck finally turned.

Saved by Rosemary Farm Sanctuary, this young horse is getting a second chance at life. Now receiving proper nutrition, hoof care, rest and love, he is already blossoming into a happy young horse! He is shedding out his worn and faded old fur and revealing a shiny black coat underneath.

Now known as MacKenzie, his past is just that; his past. With his leg issues, he will never be asked to work another day in his life, and will get to make friends and live safely for the remainder of of his days. That ought to be a long and happy life indeed.

For this winter, MacKenzie is still gaining weight and strength, spending time with the lovely Lady May an older mare rescued the same night. Maybe this sweet colt is the one you want to help take care of? Your monthly donation can go towards his badly needed food and care! Sponsor MacKenzie and help him thrive!

MacKenzie is:

• a young black gelding with a white star, likely a cross
• welcomed to The Sanctuary in August 2024
• a New Intake
• in transition *
• fun fact; TBD

* Any equine that we are still evaluating and getting to know following arrival, is in training, or is changing in some way, is in transition. Please feel free to send an email to inquire about their status and future possibilities.
